Rodney’s most popular title to date is “So, You just bought a Baofeng Radio… Now what?” originally released in 2020 and already updated with a second release in 2022. This book is popular with new Baofeng Radio owners as well as preppers brining to the reader complete programming and radio use instructions as well as modifications through upgrades available for the radio, and helping the radio operator understand the real capabilities and limitations of the radio, repeater operation, using CHIRP and Winlink with the radio, and simple enhancements to help you get the most out of the radio. The second edition book expands on the topics covered in the original book welcoming the reader into the world of Baofeng Radios.

His second book recently released in 2022 titled “Personal Emergency Communications Primer” fills what he considers is a need for a good basics book on general radio communications for the emergency radio planner in understanding the real capabilities of many radio systems including FRS, GMRS, MURS, CB Radio, and Ham Radio. Depending on where you are with your licensing level (Ham operator or unlicensed radio user), different systems have different advantages based on your needs.

Another topic that Rodney has written about is Small Power Planning where he has written two books with overlapping material but covering the topic from different points of view. In Small Power Planning: Emergency and Short Term Power Planning Rodney covers the concepts of small generators, solar generators, electrical consumption and concepts of electricity, and topics around use of backup power solutions for both home and RV Camper power use. This book covers the topic in a more overall basic level with a deeper look at electricity use, explaining basic concepts of power, and looking at emergency power in a variety of uses.

His second book on emergency power is titled Small Power Planning: Blackouts, Brownouts & Emergency Power and is more directly focused on sizing for your backup power needs, general costing comparisons, looking at multiple fuel power solutions, sizing for solar energy for small requirements, use of Solar generators and comparison of specifications, Battery topics for power storage, and possible hybrid solutions using both small fuel and small solar solutions. Many of these topics combat issues such as rolling blackouts and short-term blackouts covering into a few days which are becoming more common as our power grid becomes more stressed and fuel sources come into question.
